Who Should You Trust?

Yesterday I had an epiphany. I was riding a horse that is not mine, she is a little more high-strung and hot-blooded than my Sam. I could feel myself getting nervous, which in turn made Paloma more skittish.

I don't know her very well and so was not feeling very trusting - it was then that I had my epiphany - I realized, "I don't need to trust her, I NEED TO TRUST ME."

I need to trust that I can handle whatever comes my way.

I need to trust that I don't need to have everything figured out and under control.

I need to trust that I will figure it out as it comes along.

I need to trust that I have my own back.

It was amazing! As soon as I stopped trying to trust her and started trusting myself, Paloma calmed down and we had a wonderful day out riding.

This experience made me realize that no matter what the relationship, THE ONE PERSON IN THE WORLD WE NEED TO TRUST MOST IS OURSELVES.

Of course, it is wonderful to have people and animals we can trust, but at the end of the day, unless you trust yourself to take care of yourself, unless you stop letting yourself down, you will never have the confidence you need to trust others.

Today, when you have a moment, promise yourself that you will have your back, no matter what.

Trust that you will be able to figure out a way, no matter what pops into your life. I think you will be amazed at how quickly others start trusting you more and how much anxiety you will be able to let go of.
