Healing with Horses
Horses are exceptional teachers in guiding us towards our true nature, free from external expectations and conditioning. By listening to the calling of our hearts, we can discover hidden aspects of ourselves that long to be acknowledged for transformation and growth to occur. The images and questions presented in this book are designed to impact readers on a deep emotional level and open their hearts to the truth of who they are.
Working with a horse depends wholly on what you bring to the field by way of non-verbal communication; horses are sensitive to our every expression and movement.
Horses are honest with us. My horse is so honest that sometimes I am brought to tears. You know where you stand with them because there’s never a hidden agenda.
I have learned that you can’t expect obedience from a horse without earning it. If you don’t trust yourself and give them trust, they won’t trust you either.
Horses have the ability to mirror exactly what our body language is telling them; they can sense any level of incongruence between our inner feelings and our outer body language. Through the horse, we can become aware of the quality of the congruence of the messages we’re sending and how this impacts our human relationships.
I strongly believe that self-awareness is the key to personal growth and development. When we accept ourselves for who we truly are, we become more authentic and better equipped to make meaningful contributions to society and the people around us. By being comfortable in our own skin, we become more confident and capable of fostering positive relationships and making a positive impact on humanity as a whole.
Authenticity is all about embracing your true self. When you feel comfortable in your own skin, you can enrich your relationships and make a positive impact on society. Being authentic doesn't mean letting your emotions control you. Rather, it means being present in the moment with clarity, calmness, and empathy.
When you're at ease with yourself, you create a sense of safety for others to be themselves too. The more you cultivate inner peace and presence, the more you can inspire and influence those around you.
To be authentic, you must be willing to take the risk of showing your vulnerable side and sharing your genuine thoughts and feelings. It can be scary and uncomfortable, as there's always a chance of rejection.
But ask yourself, is it worth the greater risk of living a life that's inauthentic? Hiding behind a façade dulls and numbs your true self, causing you to miss out on the joys of genuine connection and fulfilment.
Being authentic sets you free from the need to maintain a false persona. You no longer have to worry about pleasing or irritating others, as it does not affect the truth of who you are. Authentic relationships are worth investing in and will bring true value to your life
